Navigating Change

Change is an inevitable part of working life, requiring adaptability and flexibility, and offering opportunities for growth.

Change can feel energising and exciting at times, unsettling and derailing at others. When navigating a shifting landscape, or stepping up to a new challenge, you need to give yourself time for reflection. Giving space to analyse feelings, both positive and negative, can help build resilience, and help you recognise what’s working and what isn’t.

Sometimes it’s just about asking yourself:

  • How am I feeling?
  • What do I need?
  • Am I stressed?
  • What am I looking forward to?

If you’re struggling in the face of change, we’ve mapped out six steps to help:

“A comfort zone is a beautiful place, but nothing ever grows there.”

John Assaraf

1   Acknowledge

Giving space to feelings of uncertainty is a first step towards overcoming them.

2   Challenge

We can all get caught by negative, circular thoughts at times. Try to break the pattern by visualising what success looks like.

3   Celebrate

Recognise positives and successes. Celebrate progress, no matter how small.

4   Embrace

Remind yourself that change can be both challenging and exciting. Cultivate an open, curious mindset in the face of uncertainty.

5    Push

Keep your energy focused on who or what you want to influence in any situation.

6    Time

Don’t expect everything to come good straight away. You need to allow yourself a grace period.

Websites don't listen. But we do.

We’d love to hear from you. If you have any specific questions, ask us here and we’ll come back to you straight away. We always prefer conversations so, if a chat would be helfpul, let us know and we can arrange a time to suit you.
